Best Practices or Better Practices
In business “Best Practices” are generally the agreed-upon set of “now-we-are-supposed-to” type things to follow or do.
When it comes to accounting or filing taxes you pretty much want to follow “Best Practices”. But should you follow the crowd on marketing or promoting your product or services? Only to the point of what works… but if you want your business to stand out above the crowd and really get the attention needed to be successful, you need to take it beyond what everyone agrees is the “best practice”.
That means going bigger, louder, working harder, doing more, communicating more. When you are putting on an event or doing a product launch do not be held back by how others do it. Doing things in an average way does not push your product or brand to the top of your public’s mind.
Sure you should look at what others are doing, and do what they do… as a start… but if you really want to make it to the top, take it to the next level. Do what your competitors are not willing to do.
